color story: gold rush

goldrush

1. carrie pollack | 2. my little fabric | 3. stella mccartney kids | 4. geode bookends

I keep wanting to gold foil everything. Not just paint it gold...use that delicate foil that gives everything a faded, worn, texture. Very glam, right?

Color Changes Everything

Last week was a wild blur-Cache was gone for the week with work (wah wah wah...) but it turned out to be the best possible week he could have been gone because I was hardly home it seemed. Lots of projects and teaching and embarrassing things like being on tv. I'd say don't let me quit my day job, but it was for my job so...

It's a dreary, rainy monday here. My budding tulips are loving it I'm sure but I thought I'd post an extra cheery video this morning to be sure there's some happiness bouncing around today. I think that hot air balloon should stop by our house!

Have you ever wondered who gets to name colors? It's one of those random jobs that sounds amazing and impossible to get. Like being an Anthropologie store window designer, or someone who organizes others houses. HOW DO YOU GET INTO THAT.

I bought this Tangerine Tango shirt at the shiny new H&M store in Salt Lake City a few weeks ago. So much pretty in one place...I loved. They know just how to tempt me too. There were sequins and stripes and bitty bunny prints and baby girl onesies with teeny pockets.

Color Sighting: Mustard Yellow

I haven't taken the plunge and gotten anything mustard yellow yet (read: I haven't gone shopping in a while) But my last three pins had mustard yellow as a main color. What I gather from these? Mustard yellow can be super feminine. Have you gotten any mustard yet? Besides from a burger drip, ya know.

Color Love: Orange and Mint

Pinterest has turned out to be a pretty good indicator of things I am loving right now. Obviously. The other day I noticed a lot of the same color combination popping up.

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

It's basically my blog palette. At least I know what I like! Now who wants to come over and make outfits out of this?

White is Right

I've been collecting some white interiors lately to help me understand our new and expansive white walls. What do you think? Love it, hate it? Think it's hard to clean? Makes me wish we had white floors too!

This satisfies the modernist and the westerner in me. Beautiful.

Springtime festivities

This wedding has me just itching to have my own pretty party...The details are so well thought out! I love the book paper wrapped cans and their font and the sweet little buttons. Everything is perfect!

Red & Blue

Can't get these gorgeous colors out of my mind! I love the orange and yellow mixed in a little with the red and blue. And the rock candy on the cake is so cool!

Refresh

Remember when I said I am a catalog junkie? Well, I am a little bit of an email list junkie too! I love Anthropologie's above all else; they are always well designed. This outfit cheered up my inbox yesterday and I think the color palette is just the prettiest. I might want these colors for our new house!

This one's for you, Mom!

Have you heard of Mary Swenson? She is a lovely photographer that just recently opened her own little print shop. The Heart Jar is my favorite because of that sharp cyan! All of her prints are absolutely airy and lovely though, it would be hard to pick just one to order! ;)

Chevrons and bubbles

Shade just put up a preview of their Summer collection...swoon! They are too good. Isn't that coral and Navy nice? Such pretty color combinations.

yes, please.

I seriously want to tote this with me everywhere. If I slept with it too, could it justify the tag? So pretty.

New look?

I know for a fact my couch could use a good face lift. Winter is very hard on it (we sure use it more) and I know it's day would be brighter with one of these!

Linens and Embroidery

I have something to admit to you. I am a magazine and catalog junkie! It's true. I sign up for every last one I can (but I recycle them after, promise!). The Serena and Lily catalog stopped by today and had so many beautiful images! Isn't this one gorgeous?! Lucky babies. :) The design is based on Mexican Folk Art. I love the cranes too! They are so lovely and probably cast some really cool shadows for little kidlets to play in.

Winter White

Rooms like this make white walls look so easy! Such a beautiful color palette that it's actually really nice to have all that open space. I love the idea of one huge statement piece for your wall (and it's Beatles!). Great for apartment living or just refreshing simplicity.

sticks and stones

I don't know about you, but we've got four or five USB sticks hanging around our house. They're super convenient and darn it they just keep getting cheaper. I remember during my freshman year of college paying $60 for 1GB and it was a steal!

These are pretty though. Of course, because they're from Pantone! But really, they've got fourteen pantone colors to choose from, and can't I have them all?

Wheat fields

I've seen Mandy Lynne's work before, but once I looked around her website, I had to post it. Her colors are so clean and soft. She also does a lot with diptychs, which come out beautifully! They're paired so creatively; look around her old school section. Adorable! She has prints available at her etsy shop, Skippy Designs.
