White is Right

I've been collecting some white interiors lately to help me understand our new and expansive white walls. What do you think? Love it, hate it? Think it's hard to clean? Makes me wish we had white floors too!

Diamond in the Rough

Think rock cut shapes are pretty cool? So do I. This faceted clock is calling my name...and it might want to be gilded gold and sit on my desk.

The One Where I Tell You Why I've Been Invisible

Dear friends! I've miss you so. California was really super; I got a bit blonder and my nose turned into a chili pepper. I don't know how I managed that being inside the expo most of the trip! Haha. Teaching is always so much fun for me and meeting such awesome women is just amazing. I always get the best students!

We took an extra day to play and headed up to Old Town San Diego because we heard it was beautiful. It really was too; but my favorite part was the Cinco De Mayo festival going on! Holy mariachi bands! Holy food! Oh the food...we had tacos, funnel cake, fruit cups (I'll tell you how to make those soon! so summery and good..) Everything was amazing. Women were dressed up in huge and color saturated dresses, men were making hearts out of husks, and everyone had a smile on their face (I do give part of that to all the margaritas). It was a very cool experience.

Then last saturday, I had the chance to walk for my BFA degree! I finished in December but my family came out for the May graduation. It was just right. Family and friends and Aggie ice cream, which is all a girl can really ask for. And it didn't rain.

So, two days ago, husband and I signed on our new house. WOW! We've been moving boxes all up and down this land. It's a disaster and I love it. But the computer is plugged in and life is kind of normal again. By normal I mean taking two hours to put up a curtain rod. Who chooses rods that you have to screw into the wall? Yep, me! But it's now hanging oh so pretty with this curtain that makes me smile every time I see it.

I love you for making it this far, and I'll be sharing some lovely goodies with you soon! And I'll post your weekend project later. ;) It's not too hard, promise!

Fawning

These vinyl wall stickers caught my eye the other day! I love how they are matte instead of shiny; very nice. The styling really appeals to me...it's simple but interesting. They're super cheap too! They average around $10.

New look?

I know for a fact my couch could use a good face lift. Winter is very hard on it (we sure use it more) and I know it's day would be brighter with one of these!

The amazing illustrators Camilla Engman and Elisabeth Dunker make up Studio Violet. They have such a strange and wonderful style! I adore their work. The Krakatoa poster is so charming; the colors and patterns are beautiful! I love the diamond mountain with dots shooting out.

More beauties: Circus Violet porcelain and Mr. Mustache taking a nap.

diamonds and stripes

Want a quick and easy winter distraction? Merrilee of Mer Mag made the coolest color puzzle for her little boy. (It will someday end up being changeable art for their wall) It's so simple and turns out beautiful. The combinations are endless!

For all Seasons

This felt wreath really caught my eye today! The neon is so unexpected and so wonderful. And those flower shapes are really unconventional but completely beautiful. She used a knitting needle to hang it. I love it!

Linens and Embroidery

I have something to admit to you. I am a magazine and catalog junkie! It's true. I sign up for every last one I can (but I recycle them after, promise!). The Serena and Lily catalog stopped by today and had so many beautiful images! Isn't this one gorgeous?! Lucky babies. :) The design is based on Mexican Folk Art. I love the cranes too! They are so lovely and probably cast some really cool shadows for little kidlets to play in.

Winter White

Rooms like this make white walls look so easy! Such a beautiful color palette that it's actually really nice to have all that open space. I love the idea of one huge statement piece for your wall (and it's Beatles!). Great for apartment living or just refreshing simplicity.

Someday

Wallpaper intimidates me. The patterns and colors are always so appealing though, and someday I'll be brave! These old wallpapers all look so interesting. I especially love the pink and orange flower roll on the right! The wooden box is so lovely too.
