A Year at a Glance

Something I knew I wanted to do long before we had any kids was to do a monthly photo. Watching them grow is weird when you're a parent. They wake up from a nap and you think to yourself 'your nose is different!' or 'those fit yesterday!' but sometimes it's hard to actually see. You live life everyday and suddenly you have a one year old.

I've seen a lot of different ways to go about this project, but the lying down pose was my favorite. By five months it was near impossible to keep this girl still long enough to get a picture though! And it's hard to see how tall she's gotten since there's nothing to compare her with. So next time around I'll be doing something a little more...adaptive. High chair, laundry basket, crib...I'm up for suggestions. 

Some months were a bit rushed, a few were even with my iPhone, but I did it. And I love that I have this record. It reminds me of some of the bigger things (the major hair loss at two months) and some of the sweeter little things (camera face at four months) and I feel like I was able to capture a bit of her every time. They're all my favorite for different reasons.

And can I just say? I love her.

The day after husband graduated we all had my amazing friend Sarah of Halterman Photography take our entire family pictures. (brave girl; there's a lot of us and it was the day that she walked!) Sarah put up the sneak peeks tonight and I just couldn't resist sharing a few. She is amazing! I just keep looking at them. Love love love. She is full of talent.

My very favorite photographer Mandy Lynne has two pieces in Target! They're both so fun. Which one do you like better? Seriously having a hard time deciding. I've never even considered having red in our house until now! That girl is good.

Lighting Tip

Busy day today guys...super secret party to throw tonight. Can't wait! I have outfit pictures on my camera too but they will happen later because I saw this lovely little tip from Heather and thought you guys would love it too. Plus, I'm a little sick of just my face. Sun Shiny Day

Happy first official day of summer, friends! I'm so grateful for the beautiful sun-shiny weather that is finally here. Did you know the Icans celebrated the summer solstice with food and animal sacrifices? I'll be sacrificing popsicles to my stomach tonight in honor. 90 degrees today merits thoughts of warm gooey s'mores. Plus, I've been up designing and I thought it was the perfect time for one. Mine was neither as pretty nor as gourmet (it did have swiss chocolate in it though!) as Foodista's, but it was the perfect end to the day.

I've seen Mandy Lynne's work before, but once I looked around her website, I had to post it. Her colors are so clean and soft. She also does a lot with diptychs, which come out beautifully! They're paired so creatively; look around her old school section. Adorable! She has prints available at her etsy shop, Skippy Designs.

Eating pretty for breakfast

I've been fauning over Laurie's flickr all morning. The light is so bright and peaceful, and her colors? Oh my. Her variety is quite nice, too. The last photo looks like some kind of party that I really want to be at!
